Kozue Akibayashi is a professor at Graduate School of Global Studies at Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan, where she teaches feminist peace education/research. Her research focuses on the issues of sexual violence by the military in overseas host communities, militarization and demilitarisation, and decolonization. She has been a member of the Japan section of Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom for the last 20 years. She served as Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) International President between 2015 and 2018. She is currently on the International Board of WILPF representing the Asia-Pacific Region. She was among the 30 feminist peace activists who crossed the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on the Korean Peninsula in 2015 as part of Women Cross DMZ. She is now on the advisory board of Women Cross DMZ.
